About gay travel

Gay travel has opened up significantly in recent years, both with the acceptability and the emergence of a wider choice of tempting places to head off to, right from old favorites like Amsterdam and Berlin, to London.

Gay visitors are assured of a warm welcome in Britain, considering that it is one of the gay-friendliest countries in the world today. Gay couples visiting London can easily combine bustling city culture and nightlife with beautiful scenery of various types.

In addition, gay travelers can renew their interest in experiencing royal life in the UK. Looking to bring this spirited new interest to life, a trip to London may just give you a chance to indulge your inner king or queen when visiting the finest regal destinations in and around London.

Gay holidays and vacations in London

When it comes to attractive destinations in Europe these days, the gay traveler is spoilt for choice, with most of the big cities openly flaunting their flourishing gay scenes. All cities, including London, is one of the hippest, most cosmopolitan and urbane cities around. London leads the way as a beacon of tolerance, diversity and inclusiveness, where everyone can create their own particular niche.

As a gay destination, London needs little introduction. It boasts of numerous exciting bars and clubs that would match a few other cities in Europe. Soho, London’s gay village, is undoubtedly the centre for the city’s throbbing gay community. With a thriving business at gay bars, restaurants, clothing and book shops, it is a haven of tolerance and piece. Wandering down the streets of London would be comparable to following in the footsteps of gay luminaries like Oscar Wilde, Quentin Crisp and the film director Derek Jarman.

Whilst most action is focused on Soho, the city is proud to accept that gay scenes exist throughout London. Apart from its extensive gay nightlife, London is by far the best all-round destination, with an incredible mix of art and culture, including historical monuments, art galleries, museums, parks and gardens.

On the shopping front, bargains can be found as well as high-class expensive stuff that can be bought at flashy boutiques and world-renowned fashion houses on Bond Street, and in Chelsea and Knightsbridge.

Gay tours

Acting as the highlight of London’s gay calendar, the annual London Pride, LGBT cultural festival is among the largest and the most exhilarating of its kind. It traditionally takes place from mid-June to early-July. Moreover, there are several other important events throughout the year that gays can participate in, taking specialty tours, bike tours, adventure tours, walking and hiking tours, senior’s tours, family tours, as well as study abroad and education tours.

Gay travel guide

Outside of London, the United Kingdom has one of the largest gay communities anywhere in the world, and is proud to lay claim to two other particularly important gay communities in Brighton and on Manchester’s Canal Street, as well as several other enclaves dotted around the country.

With its fantastic shopping, peerless nightlife and week’s worth of sightseeing, London can be immensely enjoyed as the region’s biggest and busiest city. Although, England on the whole, is an enormously varied place, even though relatively few visitors manage to make it to the country’s other cities – or its beautiful rural stretches.

All kinds of travel help can be got from:

Some families also stay in a holiday chalet in the snow-capped mountains. For those who seek thrill in water sports, there are also holiday cottages on the shores of Germany’s crystal-clear lakes where they can stay. Aside from those, there are also holiday villas with swimming pool wherein families can go on hiking or explore the Black Forest.

Paris is famous its art displays. The Musee de Louvre is on everybody’s list. Francois Mitterand’s glass pyramid entrance is no longer a controversy, now being considered an exhibit in its own right. Operating since 1795 “de Louvre” has an unrivaled collection of antiquity. This is where one must go to see original works of Da Vinci, with the Mona Lisa being among the most famous exhibits. The city of lights also hosts galleries dedicated to Picasso and Monet, named Musee Picasso and Musee Marmottan Claude Monet respictively. Monet lovers will have to visit the Musee de l’orangerie as well. The de l’orangerie is once again open and features many of Monet’s waterline series and other art from the early 1900’s. Picasso and Renoir among others.

For modern urban expressionist art in Paris the place to go is to the American Museum of Art. A local favorite is the Musee D’ Orsay located in a former train station and displaying impressionist and post impressionist paintings. Rome is a “blue chip” city to visit when touring art galleries on the continent. American historians find the Galleria Borghese and Galleria Collona interesting due to the dates of their origins. Both the Borghese and Collona were being built in the 1600’s with the latter completed in 1704 while the colonies were struggling for their own identity.

The Spada Gallery features paintings from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries with some Roman statues from the second and third centuries. A small gallery, the Spada is an impressive stop with the statue of Pompey in the main Pallazo. The foot of the Pompey of course being the most commonly given location for the murder of Julius Caesar. In typical German fashion, displaying art is taken seriously in Berlin. The most famous and most visited museum is the Pergamon Museum. An antiquity collection, A near East collection and display of Islamic art draw over eight hundred thousand visitors per year. Any period from Egyptian to modern can be found displayed in Berlin.

The Maurmuseum Haus am Checkpoint Charlie is a small and focused display of Berlin’s most famous checkpoint during the cold war. Recordings, texts, films, and objects are on display with some tied to daring escapes and attempts. Lectures are given by those with firsthand knowledge to share and a tour for your group can be arranged.

London offers the tour group British art displayed in a depth found nowhere else. Trafalgar Square houses the National Gallery with works from the mid thirteenth century to the early twentieth century. North of Trafalgar Square is the National Portrait Gallery with an unrivaled collection of portraits of significant and historical figures.

The Mall galleries opened in 1971 offer more contemporary works and often display work of up and coming artists. The Tate Modern is another London Gallery that augments the traditional displays with new and existing art. With the quality offerings available, your group should have a memorable experience touring Europe.
